I actually adore Bidoof/Bibarel. Is the "Cute" part in the description sarcasm, though? Cause it doesn't look like you were going for cute.

My main goal was not really cuteness, but realism though.

It might be the soul-less black eyes, the yellow rat teeth, the baboon nose and that odd mask.

I always thought Bidoof was kind of derpy and happy looking. Plus I always liked its cry.

Ah, well it actually has a beaver nose and dentition: [link]
And the eyes are deep brown not black :P
The "mask" is simply a fur color variation around the eyes (All characteristics of Bidoof)
