Description

My interpretation of Slugma.
A kind of volcanic nudibranch. It absorbs a lot of volcanic ashes and stones and turn them into natural weapons. Its skin is made to resemble magma, and the yellow parts are phosphorescent. As it grows, it uses a mix of ashes, stones and its own secretion to form a hard shell and eventually evolves into Magcargo.

The idea itself itself is magnificent, I am very impressed by your interpretation of Slugma, and it is easily seen by an imaginative eye how it could "evolve" into Magcargo. I love the detail work put into it, I only wish it were larger. The actual Pokemon takes up less than 40% of the page, which is a shame because some of the best work is done in the feelers (excellent touch) and the phosphorescent. It is also a little difficult to see which was Slugma is leaning, A few moments of looking and its body seems to be leaning to its right in the front, while its backside is pulled left, and its spine is straight. I also wish there were a little more red/orangeish tints in the breast, and along the back, to more closely resemble Game Freak's idea of living lava, (this Slugma looks like it has sat around for a day or two and is cooling off) But I wouldn't want much more than a shade or two thrown in, because your interpretation is gorgeous. I hope to see a Magcargo soon!
